yeah for long runs, boo for bad knees

i'm so proud of all you girls and your long runs... look at you all go! i also just got back from a 45 minute-er, and it felt so good to run that long even though i really wanted to stop. my knees have been giving me problems since yesterday, so i definitely need to figure something out soon before i really hurt myself. maybe miq can ask all of her running friends on her blog since she got so much feedback about the shin splints... help a sista out?
anyways - 3.5 miles, 45 minutes, feels good. i can't believe it really - it's strange that i don't know if i have ever run for 45 minutes in my life without stopping, yet in a few months we will be pushing 3-4 hours! crazy. i'm so glad you are all finding your groove and that we are all in this together. what an neat experience. thanks for being loco enough to come along with me!
as for next week, look for miq's post with the schedule we will be following (feel free to adapt or do whatever you want) - obviously some things will change since the schedule starts on sunday. i think we are planning on trying to do the following:
sunday- rest
monday- run
tuesday - run
wednesday - cross train or rest
thursday - run
friday- rest
saturday - long run

and of course increasing the time and/or mileage each week.
i will also be posting some designs clint came up with for shirts for your opinions as soon as i figure out how to upload them. the words can be changed (i don't know what we want to call ourselves) or if you have better ideas let us know. ok... have a great weekend! love you girls!!

Sorry about your knees! From what I understand, problems can begin elsewhere (hips, IT bands, etc.) and the pain shows up in the knees. Make sense? If it gets worse or does not improve after rest, ice and stretching, SEEK HELP from a DR. Don't let an injury go on and on--you want to make it to race day!!

Also, check your shoes. How many miles are on them? Are you sure they are the best shoe for your foot and running style? Getting properly fitted at a running specialty store is PRICELESS!!

Best wishes with your training!!
